The Southern Missouri Region serves with volunteers in 40 counties and offices in Cape Girardeau, Joplin, Lebanon, Nevada, Springfield, and West Plains. This page is administered by a team of volunteers from across the region.


The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

While our Disaster Volunteers are likely to go anywhere in America when a major disaster strikes, they  routinely serve the following Southern Missouri counties: Barry, Barton, Bollinger, Butler, Cape Girardeau, Carter, Cedar, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Douglas, Dunklin, Greene, Hickory, Howell, Jasper, Laclede, Lawrence, McDonald, Mississippi, New Madrid, Newton, Oregon, Ozark, Pemiscot, Perry, Polk, Reynolds, Ripley, Scott, St. Clair, Stoddard, Shannon, Stone, Taney, Texas, Vernon, Wayne, Webster, and Wright.Offices are located in Cape Girardeau, Joplin, Lebanon, Nevada, Springfield, and West Plains. Our volunteers answer the call to service 24/7/365 whenever disaster strikes.

We most frequently respond to residential fires at a moment’s notice to provide comfort (blankets and teddy bears) and assistance (money for lodging and other items as needed).

Our volunteers make free disaster preparedness and fire safety presentations. Call to schedule a presentation for your group.
