Neighbors helping neighbors…

DORA, MO (Ozark County)

Just spoke to JJ, our emergency manager from the Joplin Office who is leading a team of Red Cross volunteers helping folks recover from the storms that struck around the town of Dora, Missouri last night.
Six volunteers from the West Plains Office, joined by Damage Assessment teams from the Springfield Office and a crew staffing the Greater Ozarks Chapter Emergency Response Vehicle round out the “baker’s dozen” of trained Red Cross volunteers deployed. Many more volunteers responded to our email “call for availability” and stood ready to help their neighbors if needed.
In addition to providing 100 lunches today, Red Cross volunteers are distributing tarps, rakes, and snacks to those working to clean up.
Our caseworkers will work with those affected to help identify their immediate emergency needs. We currently anticipate providing additional assistance to at least eight families.
As always, we could not provide this assistance without dedicated volunteers, generous donors, and the support of our community.
